One hundred and fifty years ago a group of enthusiastic naturalists founded a Society in London to ' introduce new and curious examples of the animal kingdom' and keep them in its Zoological Gardens in Regent's Park. The public soon gave the collection a name. It became The Zoo and it was the first of its kind in the world.
