Feature films selected for the occasion - at home with the family - this week starring Alec Guinness with Robert Newton, Kay Walsh, Francis L. Sullivan, John Howard Davies

Charles Dickens's immortal story about a poor orphan who is forced into the company of thieves and cut-throats. It is shown this week to mark the centenary of Dickens's birth.
Like Great Expectations, David Lean's distinguished film was both a critical and commercial success.
It launched Alec Guinness to stardom, made Tony Newley a child star and featured now popular artists like Hattie Jacques and Diana Dors in small roles.

Starring John Gregson, Dinah Sheridan, Kay Kendall and Kenneth More

One of the most successful British comedies ever made, Genevieve firmly established Kenneth More as a favourite with British filmgoers. In it he plays the breezy young Ambrose Claverhouse - a dare-devil competitor in the annual London to Brighton veteran car run.
The film was a triumph for More and the whole cast - including a 1904 Darracq as 'Genevieve' driven by John Gregson and Dinah Sheridan and a Spyker carrying More and girlfriend Kay Kendall.
