Introduced by Frank Bough
Recalling the greatest football achievement in our history - how England won the 1966 World Cup and for the first time became 'Champions of the World.'
Tonight: The 1966 World Cup Final at Wembley
England v West Germany
showing England's dramatic victory in extra time, including what was to become the most controversial goal in football history.
It was in the 100th minute of a gruelling game that Geoff Hurst smacked the ball against the underside of the West German crossbar, and after what seemed like an eternity the referee signalled 'Goal.'
'It was not a goal!' headlined Bild Zeitung. 'The ball crossed the line,' says the FA's World Cup report.
Tonight's programme analyses that goal using West German film. On the eve of a new World Cup, see again the match and the goal that made football history.
