"Well, is he a great composer or not? And in case you're wondering why an American should conduct English music, I'll first say this - I love it."
The words of conductor, composer and pianist Andre Previn who introduces tonight's programme and conducts music from the symphonies of Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Last week's Omnibus presented a portrait of Vaughan Williams himself. Tonight Andre Previn, who has recently made his home in this country and is currently engaged on a recording project involving all nine of Vaughan Williams's symphonies, concentrates on the music and especially the 4th Symphony.
