In this country we are bombarded by appeals from hundreds of different charities; and as the appeals get louder, the charities themselves are finding it harder to get the money they need. In the words of the director of one national charity: 'This is a competitive field, and we are all scrambling for the largest slice of the cake'. Might there perhaps be a better way of tapping people's generosity?
