An English translation has recently been published of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's most considerable work, the unfinished Ethics, which was discovered among his papers after his murder by the Gestapo, and later edited by his friend Pastor Eberhard Bethge. Dr. Markus discusses Bonhoeffer's unusual approach to ethics, which he does not regard as a system of right and wrong conduct but as a way towards achieving human wholeness.'
