In Praise of Tasso's Madrigals lain Iain Fletcher talks about Torquato Tasso as a writer of short lyrics-a side of his work that has received little attention compared, for instance, with his epic, Gerusalemme Liberata. In these brief lyric poems, the speaker says, we seem to 'find in concentrated form the very qualities of sensibility for which we most value Tasso's greater work.
