Manchester Guardian correspondent in India
In foreign affairs generally, says Mrs.
Zinkin, India acts by applying first principles to each situation as it arises. In South-East Asia, however, there is also the beginning of a quite new recognition that first principles are not quite enough, that geography and history, interests and strategy, must all come in ... in short, that one ought to have a policy.'

Talk by Lady Drower
The Mandaeans of Iraq claim to preserve among their sacred rites certain ancient ceremonies, in particular the form of baptism with which Christ was baptised by St. John. Lady Drower, who has made a close study of the Mandaeans for nearly forty years, speaks about these survivals and about her recent visit to record their ancient form of Aramaic.
