Conductor, Boris Ord
Antony Hopkins, who is well known as a composer of music for radio plays and whose recent series of broadcast talks on musical taste aroused widespread interest, has devoted much of his time to choral conducting and composing. His Carillon, written six years ago, is a successful 'experiment in obtaining bell-like sonorities from unaccompanied voices.
Randall Thompson, one of America's leading composers, has also taken a great interest in choral music: his Alleluia for unaccompanied voices is well known in this country. The Peaceable Kingdom, eight settings of passages from Isaiah, takesits tiitie from a painting by Edward Hicks. D. C.
