The Ecumenical Movement by the Rev. Oliver Tomkins
Associate General Secretary for Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches
The most significant fact of church relations this century has been the Ecumenical Movement which led to the formation of the World Council of Churches in 1948. There is evidence that the World Council of Churches is already working closely with the Roman Catholic Church in such fields as the relief of refugees. Oliver Tomkins talks about this movement and shows how the various theological traditions have been able to hold conversations and influence each other in a way that would have been impossible fifty years ago.
