Second of two talks by C. E. Carrington
The Canterbury Settlement, established in New Zealand in December 1850, is described by the speaker as a model of systematic colonisation and the climax of that Victorian movement for Colonial reform outlined in his first talk. Mr. Carrington comments on the aims of those who planned the settlement, the colonising technique employed, and the solid success of their scheme.
