This Serenade was written for the Cambndge Summer Festival last year and was first performed in August by the London Wind Players in the Court of Clare College. The work is scored for two flutes (and piccolo), two oboes (and cor anglais), two clarinets, and two bassoons. In the Interlude it is the cor anglais that leads the ' incantation,' the spirits that are called up being represented by the clarineu. H .R.
