A biologist's reflections on the human brain by J.Z. Young, F.R.S., Professor of Anatomy at University College, London.
In this lecture Professor Young gives an account of the knowledge that recent research has provided of the functions of the nervous system. How useful are comparisons between brains and calculating machines? Professor Young answers the question by describing the study he has made of the brain and memory of the octopus. He indicates how such research is useful in the study of the human brain.
