A biologist's reflections on the human brain by J. Z. Young, F.R.S. Professor of Anatomy at University College, London
3—The Human
Calculating Machine
In this lecture Professor Young is concerned with the organisation of the human brain. Using the analogy of modern calculating machines, he describes the various parts of the brain and the way each part contributes to our emotional* behaviour and our thinking. He ends by emphasising that, in spite of recent research, more information is required before we can adequately understand how the brain works.
