A serial version for broadcasting of Crosbie Garstin 's trilogy 'The Penhales ' read by Geoffrey Tandy
Teresa Penhale let her sons, Ortho and Eli, grow up like the country boys around them. They soon grew tired of bathing and scrambling along the shore, and took to fishing, which led to their working with the men along the coast. Here they did their share of salvaging goods of all kinds from wrecked ships and outwitting the Preventive men-Teresa took her part in this. Ortho's first hero was ' Jacky's George', a fisherman, but when he left the coast to manage some smuggling elsewhere Ortho had to look for another. He found him in Tyramus Herne , a gypsy horse-dealer, with whom this instalment of the serial is principally concerned.

at the Organ of the Granada,
Clapham Junction
Lloyd Thomas , as his name suggests, is a Welshman, and has obviously inherited the musical tradition of Wales. He came to London as a youngster, and got his first post as assistant organist at a Woolwich theatre when only thirteen years old. At the age of twenty he was a fully-fledged organist at St. Michael's, Plumstead, though shortly afterwards he gave up the organ for the piano. After giving a number of piano recitals in this country, he went abroad in 1926 with a musical act and toured the Continent and also the Empire.
He got his first cinema-organist appointment in 1930, since when he has played at many large London picture theatres. For the past four years he has been working for the Bernstein circuit of Granada theatres.

' The Rondo '—1
George Dyson , Mus.D.,
Director of Royal College of Music
In this series of talks Dr. George Dyson will discuss rondo form, in which so many movements of classical sonatas and symphonies are designed. The talks will follow the same lines as those on sonata form broadcast a year ago, and many of the piano illustrations will be taken from works that are being broadcast at the time. For instance, the Beethoven programmes conducted by Toscanini and Sir Adrian Boult will provide several excellent examples of rondo form. Dr. Dyson's object is to make listeners familiar with an unusual musical form, which is not only one of the clearest and most characteristic to be found in the art of music, but one which, because of its popularity with composers, is to be heard in programmes almost every day.
