The wide interest in Natural History shown by listeners results in a series being broadcast every year. This year it has been decided to continue Science in the Making' by describing in six talks the efforts that are being made by amateurs and professionals to record the activities of plants and animals by film and camera...
Many listeners to this first talk in the series this evening will have seen Julian Huxley's wonderful film revealing the life story of the gannet, or solan goose, that most marvellous of divers.
The film was made on an island off Pembrokeshire. Its originality of approach, the photography, and Julian Huxley 's own commentary made it one of the most interesting nature films that has yet been shown.

' Digging up the Past'

The evidence as to how Ancient Britons lived lies just as much out of doors as in libraries and museums. We find stone circles, and dolmens or cromlechs, and various other structures from prehistoric- times; in fact, every invader left something behind him. This evening Jacquetta Hawkes is to open the series, which is designed not so much for those interested in antiquity as for the legion of walkers who through the summer months explore little-known spots in Britain. Some idea of ancient Britain, as revealed by this relic and that, will make these walks more interesting.

The members of the Modem Wind Quintet are drawn from London s three leading orchestras—B.B.C., London
Philharmonic and London Symphony. Formed three years ago for the purpose of creating interest in the large repertory of classical and modern chamber music for wind instruments, the Modern Wind Quintet spares no effort to attain a standard of performance usually associated with that of a first-rate string quartet.
The programme this evening includes a Quintet by Franz Reizenstein , who studied under Hindemith at the Berlin State High School of Music, and is now studying under Vaughan Williams at the Royal College of Music.

Tonight V. C. Clinton-Baddeley is to read two poems : Swinburne's ' A Forsaken Garden', and Francis Thomp sons' mysticat ' The Hound of Heaven'.
