The right food is one of the paths to health. It is not, therefore, surprising that today, when medicine is concerned to keep people healthy and not only to ireat them when ill, research workers in many countries are investigating problems of diet. There are many problems still unsolved, but certain principles are now accepted, which will be explained in the eight talks of the series. In particular, the special needs of the child between one and five years, the adolescent, both at school and in industry, the mother, the man at work, and the older person will be discussed.
The speakers will be doctors, and so in accordance with the rules of their profession, will remain anonymous.
This evening in the opening talk the speaker will discuss the problem of nutrition, the essentials of a balanced diet, and the difficulty of hard-and-fast rules owing to variation in the individual's reaction to food.
C. H. MIDDLETON
