Every gardener-whether he has a flower garden and kitchen garden completely separate, or has to grow a few flowers for cutting in the restricted space of an allotment-has his hands full this month.
Almost every kind of seed may be sown ; it is not too soon, if the weather is kind, to plant a few early potatoes. Most important of all, March that may have come in like a lamb may go out like a lion, and stakes must be secured and creepers tied before the winds begin to blow.
The amateur uardener may well be confused by all the things requiring attention. He will welcome all the more the reminders for March that C. H. Middleton is to broadcast today.

Norman Williams (bass)
Norman Williams is nothing if not versatile. He was educated at St. Catherine's College, Cambridge, and in 1901 began studying singing under Garcia. His first really important engagement was at a Prom concert under Sir Henry Wood. From that time to the present day he has done almost every kind of work as a vocalist.
He appeared in Joan of Arc at
Covent Garden under the Raymond Roze regime before the war, has sung in oratorio up and down the country, took the part of Abdullah in Chu Chin Chow, and the parts of Peachem, Locket, and Macheath at various times in The Beggar's Opera, and went on tour with the company in America. He also took part in the first performance of Bantock's Song of Songs and Delius's Pagan Requiem. From the early days of broadcasting he was associated with the BBC, and among a host of engagements has been heard in Variety and in the studio performances of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov under Malko.

Four hundred years ago it was ordained by Royal authority that ' one boke of the whole Bible of the largest volume in Englyjhe ' be set up in every rarish church. The fourth centenary of this injunction and of the ' open Bible ' will be celebrated this coming summer. As a preparation for it, a series of talks, in which the Bible will be approached from different points of view, is to be broadcast orr four consecutive Sundays by speakers prominent in public life.
Viscount Sankey, a former Lord
Chancellor, is to give the opening talk today. Next Sunday the Rt. Hon. Ernest Brown, Minister of Labour since 1935, will speak on the Bible in the World.

An appeal on behalf of a fund to enable girls to earn a living (under the auspices of THE WOMEN'S
EMPLOYMENT FEDERATION) by DESMOND MCCARTHY , LL.D.,

Eight separate funds which co-operate through the Women's Employment Federation are combining to appeal for money to help more cases. The funds give loans, without interest, to girls who could not otherwise secure training, to help them to develop their gifts and earn a living. The societies administering the funds are the Society for Promoting the Training of Women, the London and National Society for Women's Service, the Soroptomists' Club of Greater London, and the Women's Employment Federation.
Girls from all parts of the country are helped to qualify for every kind of occupation, from cooking and nursery-nursing to horticulture and medicine. When they are trained, and earning a living, they repay by instalments and a new applicant is helped, so that the money is used over and over again.

Many listeners will regret to hear that this is the last broadcast of Leslie Jeffries from the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne. Like his late confrere, de Groot, Mr. Jeffries has decided to devote himself to playing with his trio on the halls and at cinemas, and on April 4 he begins a London tour. It is hoped that later he will once again be heard over the air.
