ANTHONY Kimmins
Anthony Kimmins served for some time in the Royal Navy, leaving it with the rank of Lieut.-Commander ; he was also a Pilot in the Fleet Air Arm. He scored his first big stage success in 1932 with While Parents Sleep, which ran at the Royalty for nearly a year. Since then he has written Night-Club Queen and Chase the Ace. He has also written films, directed them, and plaved in them, so that it would be difficult to find a better guide to what goes on ' behind the screens '.

in ' Camp Fire on the Karroo ' and THE BUSHVELD Boys
Devised by Josef Marais , and written by Peter Downe
Music and words by Josef Marais and Albert Diggenhof
Musical arrangements by Albert Diggenhof
Produced by Bryan Michie
Camp fires have been burning on the Karroo since March 19, but it is just possible that some listeners have missed the earlier broadcasts. If so, they should picture a party of Boer farmers camping on the Karroo-the vast, flat, dry, South African plain, relieved only by small hills-to shear and sort their sheep, and having a night sing-song round the fire.
The programmes include Afrikaans folk songs, the origin of which is obscure. The songs seem to have been derived from Dutch, French-Huguenot, and German settlers, with a certain influence from the native races. Their flavour is quite unique.
