One of a family of musical brothers, Haydn Wood has earned the sincere gratitude of all whose task it is to provide light and cheerful music. Bom in Yorkshire, he was a brilliant student at the Royal College of Music, and afterwards carried on his studies of the violin in Brussels. He visited most countries of the world as a soloist, in a company which included the great singer Albani. Although best known as a composer of popular music, he has written more serious works, such as a Pianoforte Concerto, a Suite, and Orchestral Variations, as well as a String Quartet which had the distinction of winning one of the prizes given by Mr. W. W. Cobbett.
His suite ' Frescoes ' is based on three panels executed by the well-known artist, Anna Zinkeisen.
