A Discussion on Cumberland Farming by JOHN MORGAN and WILFRID ROBERTS
(From Newcastle)
A discussion about Cumberland Farming with Mr. Wilfrid Roberts , a Cumberland farmer, who will be remembered for his talks on ' Living in Cumberland'.
Mr. Roberts specialises in Grade A,
T.T. milk production, which finds its way to the schools. He has a feeling that high grade milk production is not satisfactorily encouraged. Cumberland now sends the bulk of its milk supplies to London, though the Milk Board have established their first cheesetnuking factory at Aspatria to deal with surplus milk on the spot. Cumber!and, the home of the family farmer, weathers the agricultural depression perhaps as well as any section of the farming community.

C. STANLEY EKE: Tout Droit
This evening Mr. C. Stanley Eke is to give another graphic chapter from his life. A hot night in Marseilles with cats chasing rats ; a walk into Italy and back, looking for work. He and his friend auctioned their sweaters in the market place at Nice, and had a bath by night in the ornamental fountain of the public gardens.
But the richness of this talk lies in the trek home across Provence towards St. Malo. A mistral blew Mr. Eke's spare shirt away, and a lorry they ' jumped ' wasn't particularly kind to his friend. How some gendarmes tried to ' put it across' them and they ' put it across ' the gendarmes is all told in this talk, which has all the ingredients of a good tale to recommend it.
