A schoolboy comes home late, and tells his parents he was turned off the bus because he had forgotten his season ticket. An indignant neighbour writes a letter of protest to the local paper-and from this trivial incident there builds up a snowball of anger and suspicion that soon is beyond the control of the people who started it all.
