In episode eight Fanny is reunited with her family in Portsmouth and draws comparisons between her own home and her life at Mansfield Park. Henry Crawford, to Fanny's embarrassment, unexpectedly visits the Prices, but behaves impeccably. Later distressing news of Henry and Maria reaches Fanny and she pines for Mansfield. Just then Edmund arrives in Portsmouth.
