During his ten months' enforced stay on the island of Elba, Napoleon Bonaparte had six separate habitations. He was able to indulge his passion for building and redecorating-and also for parsimony. A gardener who employs too many helping hands and who wants to buy turves when grass seed will do must be severely dealt with. Ernest Atkinson , who visited Elba recently, describes some of the houses and gardens designed by Napoleon.

Professor Mallory is now convinced that ' Mystine,' the new narcotic drug which also acts as a growth promoter, is a scientific discovery of international importance. The suspected foreign agent, Dr. Zeist, claims that Lee Cantrill agreed to sell him the Mystine research data, but Milo de Rivas insists that Cantrill stole the information from his uncle, Manuel de Rivas-the real discoverer. However, it appears that the problem is to be solved at last, for Mallory and his friends come across the missing Cantrill, lying exhausted in a ruined cottage.

The Industrial Revolution Reconsidered
A series of six programmes by Asa Briggs, Professor of Modern History in the University of Leeds
Professor Briggs discusses with Sydney Checkland, Professor of Economic History at Glasgow University, the strains and stresses involved in the change from an agrarian to an industrial society: the relationship, for instance, between rich and poor, and the organisations, such as friendly societies, trade unions, and employers' associations, to which the new society gave rise.
