The Soldiers', Sailors', and Airmen's Association, founded in 1885, has 15,000 voluntary workers and 1,500 branches throughout Great Brj-tain, Ireland, and in many countries overseas.
Its object is to be of use to the families of serving and ex-Service men and women by giving advice on all personal problems; helping to solve family troubles at home for men serving overseas; granting temporary financial help for those in misfortune whose needs are not fully met by the State; investigating cases and administering grams for orher Service and Regimental funds; providing an emergency home for children when mothers are ill; and administering a nursing service for Forces families in overseas Commands.
In order to meet t'he many demands made on the Association £ 150,000 must be raised annually from voluntary sources.
