Appeal on behalf of Family Service Units by Margery Fry
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to [address removed]
Family Service Units are a pioneer social service devoted to rehabilitation work among ' problem families '—families who, because of adverse circumstances and personal difficulties, have lost the ability to maintain decent standards in the home and the care of children. It is generally the children who are neglected and who suffer most.
Government welfare schemes do not meet all rhe needs of these families, and a special service is required. Family Service Units provide such a service. Friendship is the foundation of the work. The workers establish a personal relationship with each family and attempt by every means in their power, including practical work in rhe home, to rebuild family life.
