Thomas Dando 's well known signature tune, ' Keep Your Sunny Side Up ', has been recognised by cinema organist enthusiasts all over the country for years. It is, however, probably best known in the North of England where this Lancashire-born musician, who claims to have memorised over five thousand tunes, recently completed an eight-months' engagement with the Gaumont Cinema, Manchester.
Now Dando is playing in London again
-he was resident organist at the Dominion, Tottenham Court Road. until that theatre was forced to close temporarily by enemy action.
This morning Dando gives the first performance of Lloyd Thomas's new march, ' Silver Wings ', a work composed after this brother organist of Dando's joined the R.A.F.

Walton's ' Siesta written in 1926, is scored for a small orchestra of flute, piccolo, oboe, two clarinets, bassoon, two horns, and strings. Coming after his gay and vigorous ' Façade ' and ' Portsmouth Point ' overture, ' Siesta ' provides a contrast in its serene, idyllic mood. As an anonymous writer has said, ' Its title suggests the indolent, Mediterranean atmosphere of the work. yet it is a strangely piquant indolence-quasi-ironic, with often a conscious tartness of sound that tickles but does not offend the aural palate.'
