The folk songs of Wales characteristically express the Welshman's love of his native land, and his love of nature. There are also charming examples of Cerddi Serch (love songs). These traditional songs owe their survival in a great measure to the Welsh harpers who used to wander all over the country in the last century playing and singing them.
During recent years the Welsh Folk Song Society has done valuable work in discovering and reviving many of these tunes, which were in danger of being forgotten.
