In 1994, Caribbean-born Jacob Frederick decided to fulfil his dream of travelling from his birthplace of Dominica to his ancestral home in the South American jungles.
Without any money, his only option for transport was to build a traditional 35ft-long dug-out Carib canoe, an astonishing achievement which led to a perilous voyage.
