Among the 150-strong field starting out today in search of a confidence-boosting round to help them make the cut are defending champion Colin Montgomerie and previous winner Jose Maria Olazabal. Back in 1994, the Spaniard hoisted the trophy aloft just a month after triumphing at the US Masters. Having taken the Green Jacket again in April, he will be hoping that history repeats itself in Surrey over the next four days.
