The Baboons of Gombe
The second of three African studies by Hugo van Lawick and Jane Goodall Narrated by DAVID ATTENBOROUGH
Jane Goodall and Hugo van Lawick return to the shores of Lake Tanganyika to the place where Jane first started her famous study of chimpanzees. But this time it is the family life of baboons that is the focus of attention.
What is the social structure of ' beach troop' and how is it organised? How does a mother baboon cope with an infant unwilling to be weaned? What happens to young Mango, accidentally crippled when the adults fight for food and dominance? And when an unknown male baboon attempts to join the troop, what sort of reception does he get?

Four days before its opening in a London cinema, BBCtv presents the British premiere of the latest film by the director of Hiroshima Mon Amour and Last Year at Marienbad.
Sacha Stavisky was a gambler and a swindler who sold millions of francs-worth of valueless bonds to French workers. When the scandal broke over 40 years ago, it rocked France, brought down the government and almost destroyed the country's parliamentary system. Alain Resnais ' film is not about the Stavisky Scandal which did not break until after Stavisky's death, but about the man himself who became a legend.
