Each programme in this new series concerns a famous or valuable object which has disappeared, but may be lying hidden away unregarded in someone's attic or cupboard. All relevant information about when and why these things disappeared and how they can be recognised will be given.
The first search is for the missing pictures of the Maidstone Bible. Sometime during the last 200 years, thirty-five of the beautiful and valuable twelfth-century illuminations were cut out and removed from the bible. They have never been seen or heard of since.
