The relationship between Bernard Haitink and the Concertgebouw Orchestra is long and illustrious, and their appearances at the Proms are always eagerly awaited, In tonight's concert they perform works displaying the rich sonorities of the Dutch orchestra to the full. Popular extracts from two of Wagner's music dramas surround works by Debussy, including the impressionistic sound paintings of his Nocturnes.
