Until his death in 2003 Luciano Berio was the foundation's chairman so it's appropriate that the Santa Cecilia forces are bringing his Sinfonia back to the Proms, where it received its first performance in 1969 - with the Swingle Singers repeating the role that was created for them. And after the interval, Rossini's large-scale operatic setting of the Stabat Mater.
