The cult of the Blessed Virgin was particularly strong in the Catholic areas of northern Europe during the Middle Age. In this programme, featuring specially recorded music, Gothic Voices explore medieval European polyphony and plainchant with a Marian theme. Including music by Hildegard of Bingen, Philippe de Vitry and Guillaume de Machaut.
