The Tudors and the Stuarts
With Donald Macleod. Poor Queen Anne has had a bad press, tending to be thought of as a style of architecture or of chair legs rather than as one of the most popular monarchs. The daughter of James II, she came to the throne in 1702 and was queen when John Churchill , first Duke of Marlborough, won a sequence of stunning victories over the French. Anne and Sarah Churchill were friends but fell out, and the queen died alone in 1714, ending the long line of Tudors and Stuarts. Handel Birthday Ode for Queen Anne Soloists , Choir of Christ Church
