From Westminster Abbey.
On the 300th anniversary of Purcell's death, a celebration of English music and his contribution to it from the building where he held the post of organist. The Choir of Westminster Abbey, directed by the abbey organist Martin Neary, is joined by the New London Consort, the Nash Ensemble, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conductor Andrew Davis, Emma Kirkby (soprano), James Bowman (countertenor) and David Wilson-Johnson (baritone). The programme includes a new song commissioned from Sir Michael Tippett, who celebrates his 90th birthday this year.
