Christopher Fox presents the first of three features on the re-invention of Modernist thought in the wake of the Second World War, centred on the courses held at
Darmstadt. The feature ends with a complete performance of Luigl Nono's Variazioni Canoniche which had its premiere in Darmstadt in 1950. 11.25 Another chance to hear Adrian Jack 's composition, Chromatic Fantasy, which draws on four-and-a-half centuries of music and the thoughts of musicians and writers about the chromatic scale.
