Love Me
The immensely gifted writer Carson McCullers, who died after a series of strokes at the age of 50, wrote The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter when she was just 23.
All her subsequent novels, including The Ballad of the Sad Cafe and The Member of the Wedding, have been filmed, and yet she remains strangely overlooked - perhaps because loneliness and an ambiguous sexuality were frequently her themes. Russell Davies explores her life and work, with Edward Albee , Virginia Carr , Alfred Kazin , Jordan Massee and original recordings by the late author.
