The American trumpeter
Doc Cheatham , who is still playing at the age of 88, continues his conversation with Alyn Shipton. By 1931, Doc was lead trumpeter with McKinney's Cotton
Pickers, and then he joined Cab Calloway 's band at the Cotton Club, which also toured. "He had a sensational band. They couldn't find places large enough to accommodate them - tents, tobacco warehouses."
