Nat King Cole's burgeoning success as a popular singer forced him to abandon the piano and jazz, and his last jazz recordings in 1956 were colourless, in spite of the presence of Harry Edison and Stuff Smith.
In the last of the series,
Max Harrison concentrates on the more impressive sessions of 1955, and the quintet recordings of 1952.
