A sequence of solo and chamber music by Les nouveaux jeunes -
Auric, Durey, Milhaud,
TaiUeferre, Honegger and Poulenc - who, according to Henri Collet in 1920 'brought about a renaissance of French music by a magnificent and voluntary return to simplicity'.
These performances by CAPRICORN are interspersed with excerpts from the work of JEAN COCTEAU, read by Trevor Peacock.
(Given on 11 May in the Music Room of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, as part of the 1989 Brighton Festival)
