Henry and William Lawes The music of the Lawes brothers represents the flowering of English song and Instrumental music prior to the Restoration. Henry (1596-1662) is remembered principally for his songs. William (c 1602-45), his brother, wrote a quantity, of instrumental music, as well as songs and music for the theatre.
