Charles Causley is universally acknowledged as one of our leading poets, with a highly personal vision of landscapes and of ordinary human life. On his own admission, he owes much of his inspiration to Cornwall: it was during his wartime service in the Navy that he felt the irresistible pull of his Cornish roots, and he has lived there ever since, earning his living as a schoolmaster. This afternoon his choice of records includes a song from fellow-Cornishman BENJAMIN LUXON , as well as contributions from PAUL TORTELIER and JANET BAKER , and an intriguing Farewell to Sicily. gramophone records
