considers the dramatic art of Peter Brook
'Theatre is unique in its difficulties because the artist has to use the treacherous material of himself as his medium - theatre is always a self-destructive art and it is always written on the wind.'
PETER BROOK divides his time between the Royal Shakespeare Company, for whom he directed A Midsummer Night's Dream and last autumn Antony and Cleopatra, and Paris where he has his own international company of actors. He talks to Michael Billington about the theatre, and his philosophy and technique of direction.
