Three talks by Stephen Abrams. a psychologist, on areas in which, in his view, the thought of C. G. Jung has been misunderstood or misinterpreted.
3: Synchronicity - A Ghost of a Chance
Reputable scholars have been offended by Jung's excursions into so-called ' occultism '. But, in fact, Jung rejected telepathy and any belief in occult forces. His principle of ' synchronicity ' is the ' transcendent function ' of coming to recognise the symbolic value of one's actions, thus establishing a channel of communication between consciousness and the unconscious. It has nothing to do with magic.
