Early in 1914 Ida Herz , to escape her bourgeois upbringing, decided to realise her dream of becoming a book-seller - in Nuremberg, her home town. From there she gravitated to one of the most famous bookshops of the time - Joseph Baer and Co in Frankfurt am Main.
