One of the great figures of the early Renaissance, composer of many masses, motets and secular songs. In his music one detects the full flowering of the mellifluous, polyphonic Renaissance style. Celebrated throughout Europe in his lifetime, his music later fell into neglect and was rediscovered by Charles Burney. This week's programmes concentrate on his sacred works, including. on Wednesday, a rarely performed mass. La sol fa re mi.
