With her personal choice of records Dame Edith Evans declares her love of melody, whether it be John Heddle Nash singing songs by Arne, Julian Bream playing music by Rodrigo, or Kathleen Ferrier singing the Alto Rhapsody of Brahms. Dame Edith finds music in the voice of John Gielgud as he reads Sonnets by Shakespeare, and in the voice of G.B. Shaw as he talks about the theatre.
Her inclusion of the first movement of Elgar's Cello Concerto also stirs memories of her friendship with the composer.
