Scott Fitzgerald at Princeton before World War I, he embarked upon a writing career that continued unabated for nearly 60 years until his death last year.
Few of his contemporaries have ranged so widely in their interests and his works include Axel's Castle, To the Finland Station, The Scrolls from the Dead Sea, Apologies to the Iroquois and Patriotic Gore. Compiled and introduced by Philip French
